Differences in performance and application range between white and brown corundum

所属分类:

【概要描述】Brown corundum, commonly known as corundum, is a brown artificial corundum made by melting and reducing three raw materials: bauxite, carbon material, and iron filings in an electric arc furnace. The main chemical component is AL2O3, with a content of 95.00% -97.00%, and a small amount of Fe, Si, Ti, etc. It is a fairly basic abrasive, widely used due to its good grinding performance, wide applicability, and low price. Brown corundum is called industrial teeth: mainly used in refractory materials, grinding wheels, and sandblasting.

Brown corundum has the characteristics of high purity, good crystallization, strong fluidity, low linear expansion coefficient, and corrosion resistance. This product has the characteristics of no detonation, no pulverization, and no cracking during its application, and is commonly used in the industries of abrasive tools and refractory raw materials.

Brown corundum can be divided into two smelting methods: tilting furnace and fixed furnace.

The main products include: brown corundum sand, roller sand, ball milling and shaping sand, section sand, P sand, fine powder, and micro powder.

Application scope

Abrasive tools: grinding wheels, abrasive belts, sandpaper, sandcloth, cutting blades, sandblasting processes, grinding, wear-resistant flooring, water jet cutting, coated abrasives, bonded abrasives, etc.

Refractory materials: castable, refractory bricks, ramming materials, sliding plates, nozzles, steel ladles, furnace lining materials, precision casting, etc.

White corundum is made from aluminum oxide powder, which is melted at high temperatures above 2000 degrees in an electric arc. After being damaged and shaped, iron is removed through magnetic separation, and various particle sizes are sieved. Its texture is fine and dense, with high hardness, and the particles form sharp corners. It is white in color, slightly higher in hardness than brown corundum, with slightly lower resistance, strong grinding ability, low heat generation, high efficiency, acid and alkali corrosion resistance, and good high-temperature thermal stability. The density of white corundum can be divided into two types: the bulk density of white corundum and the true density of white corundum.

1. The packing density of white corundum is 1.53-1.99g/cm3, and the packing density of abrasives is related to factors such as particle size, particle composition, type, and particle shape. Generally speaking, coarse grained abrasives have a higher packing density than fine grained abrasives, while mixed grained abrasives have a higher packing density than a single particle density.

2. The density of white alumina particles is 3.95-4.0g/cm3, and the true density of abrasives refers to the mass of abrasives contained in a unit volume (excluding the volume of open pores).

White corundum is made from industrial aluminum oxide powder, which is melted at a high temperature of over 2000 degrees in an electric arc and cooled. It is crushed and shaped, magnetically selected to remove iron, and sieved into various particle sizes. Its texture is dense, high hardness, and the particles form sharp corners. White corundum is suitable for manufacturing ceramics, resin bonded abrasives, as well as grinding, polishing, sandblasting, and precision casting. The outstanding feature is that the crystal size is small and resistant to impact. If it is processed and broken by a self grinding machine, the particles are mostly spherical, with a dry and clean surface and easy to bond. There are two types of density, one is the stacking density of white corundum, and the other is the true density of white corundum.
